average pay rates for comic book artists:
"Generally, the good graphic novels fetch $100 - $300 per page, although professionals who have been in the industry for a long time can command as much as three times that amount. In fact, one elite illustrator commanded as much as $1,000 a page (on a 22-page comic book)! Most of the popular titles that artists, like David Cassaday, work on are monthly issues, which end up providing him with a six-figure salary. The back-end royalties on merchandise, trade paperbacks and movie royalties are also generous."

"In 2008, Sean Jordan, founder of Army Ant Publishing, claimed established freelance comic book artists were paid anywhere from $220 to $4,400 per book project, which breaks down to $10 to $200 per page. Pencil and inker artists can ask for $75 to $200 a page. Colorists often fall in the range of $35 to $125, and writers and letterers make $10 to $50 a page. 8-31-16: I just left a voicemail with Harry Pinkney. I politely ask him to call me. As of this date he still has yet to remove my art from his website.

STOLEN ARTWORK ALERT!
Why other artists would put their name to my work is silly, but it happens. And it's annoying. Please read.

I should point out that this one probably takes the cake for World's Most Giant Nads Award!

Let me go on record to proclaim that my name is NOT, Harry J. Pinkey, jr. AND my ART was not created by a guy named Harry J. Pinkey, Jr.

Purely by coincidence I ran across an artist's website with my artwork prominently displayed in his illustration section, while looking for Adam West reference. On the Google thumbnails. I saw my 66 Batman Montage bearing another person's signature. I clicked the link and discovered 3 more of my black and white pieces bearing HJP's name on my work. I clicked on his resume page, found his cell number and called him. Got his voicemail, but I left a rather nice message encouraging him to PLEASE call me back. In the meantime I found his street address here in Atlanta. And he's nearby. Yes, I'm driving over.

I'll keep you posted.

I didn't know my name was Harry J. Pinkey, jr? Or at least I didn't know my art was created by a guy named Harry J. Pinkey, Jr. You know you haven't lived until you accidentally discover a website with your own personal artwork attached to someone else's name.

Damn. What balls.

I'm slowly climbing my way out of the cave, after set-backs and blatant apathy. I'll expound about myself as I begin to upload art, which is extremely difficult as the more I age the more and more reclusive and private I become. But, I realize socialization becomes necessary to sell art, and thus EAT. :) Thank you always for dropping by!
